Jackson Paul Heckel


Jack was born on December 11th, 2002 at Milwaukee Children's Hospital. We knew he'd be born perfect, except for his broken heart. We learned at our 20 week ultrasound Jack had Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome.

A day and a half after Jack was born, he had the first of what would have been at least 3 open heart surgeries.
He did quite well during and after the surgery. He spent three and a half weeks in the PICU of Milwaukee Children's Hospital. We were allowed to bring him home to care for him until his next surgery.

He spent 6 wonderful days at home with us doing things all newborn babies do.

On January 12, 2003 Jack's heart gave out and he passed away in the emergency room at St. Mary's Hospital.

Still after seven years I wake up everyday thinking about him. It is my job as his Mom to give him a voice and give his little life meaning. I started this crop 3 years ago to combine several things I love; Jack, scrapbooking and Child Life Ministries.
